Preparing Walton Aquatic Center for Summer

Park Maintenance crews have been busy preparing the Walton Aquatic Center for the upcoming summer season. The aquatic center is set to open on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with permitting weather.

Power of Trees Beautification Program

Nevada Firefighters planted eight maple trees at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course on Monday. The trees were donated to the Golf Course by Aquila Electric Company as part of their Power of Trees Beautification Program.

Eco-Troubadour Visits Area Schools

Stan Slaughter, known as the Eco-Troubadour, presented musical assemblies at area elementary schools last week. Mr. Slaughter's program features music with catchy lyrics that help educate students on the importance of recycling and composting. The assemblies were sponsored by Region M and the Department of Natural Resources.              Read More

Progress is being made at the Nevada Municipal Airport on the new terminal building project. The photo is of the office portion of the terminal building. The Nevada Municipal Airport Board is confident the completion date of June 16, 2008 will be met.

Heavy rains once again pounded the area filling normally dry drainage ditches, creeks and rivers. This is the drainage ditch located on Park Street between North Main and North Cedar Street, in Nevada. It is normally dry, but not after a heavy downpour as we had today.

 

memorial day.jpgNevada City Hall will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008. City Hall will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 8:00 a.m.

Also, the office of the Nevada Housing Authority of the City of Nevada, Missouri will be closed for Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008. Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 27th, at 8:00 a.m.

Everyone should know two ways out of each room and know where to meet outside. Make sure everyone understands that getting out is the first priority. And remember, once you're outside, stay out.
