The Nevada Housing Authority Participates in Housing America Campaign
Safe, decent and affordable housing is pivotal in our society. October is Housing America month.
Housing America is a year-long campaign to inform the public and decision makers about the need to meet the the country’s affordable housing and community development challenges. Beyond providing basic shelter, affordable housing positivity impacts the economy and improves the quality of our environment
Public housing, a $1 billion asset in this country, is home to over 2 million people, more than 40 percent of whom are children. Public housing is a vital national resource, and yet the administration’s funding requests for public housing would not fully fund the program.
The Nevada Housing Authority has joined with affordable industry partners across the country in supporting the Housing America campaign, which aims to educate decision makers and the general public about the importance of affordable housing and community development programs, as well as the challenges facing these programs.
Housing America is spearheaded by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, a membership organization of 23,000 housing and community development agencies and professionals, along with twelve partner organizations standing in support of housing and community development interests.
